Now you can grow your own longer,
fuller, darker eyelashes with an FDA approved treatment
that really works.
LATISSE™ (bimatoprost ophthalmic solution) 0.03% is
the first and only prescription treatment approved by
the FDA for inadequate or insufficient eyelashes, growing
them longer, fuller and darker.
LATISSE™ makes lash growth possible because of its
active ingredient: bimatoprost. Although the precise
mechanism of action is not known, research suggests
that lashes can grow longer, thicker and darker beacuse
bimatoprost may increase the percent of hairs in the
growth phase, as well as prolong the duration of the
growth phase.
LATISSE™ is easy to use, FDA approved and effective.
It's a once-a-day treatment you apply topically to the
base of your upper eyelashes using an eyeliner type
brush that comes with the kit. Patients in a clinical
trial saw results gradually over time (starting at 4
weeks with full results after 16 weeks). The FDA study
showed that eyelashes typically grew 25 percent longer,
106 percent thicker and 18 percent darker.
LATISSE™ is an innovation backed by research. While
LATISSE™ is a new treatment in eyelash growth, it was
developed through years of research by Allergan, a pharmaceutical
leader with over 60 years of expertise in prescription
eye care products.
What is LATISSE™ (bimatoprost ophthalmic solution)
0.03%?
LATISSE™ solution is a prescription treatment for hypotrichosis
(for inadequate or insufficient eyelashes) used to grow
eyelashes, making them longer, thicker and darker. It
was originally a glaucoma medication called Lumigan.
After patients using Lumigan noticed their eyelashes
getting really long and thick, Allergan studied it more
and had bimatoprost FDA approved as an eyelash growth
stimulator.
How much does LATISSE™ cost?
The price of LATISSE is $120. Don't be fooled by cheap
imitations. LATISSE is the only FDA approved eyelash
growth treatment available, with proven, documented
clinical results.
How long does a bottle of LATISSE™ last?
One bottle comes with 60 eyeliner brushes. The directions
indicate that you should use 2 per day, one brush for
each eye, and then dispose of the brush. So, the bottle
will last for 1 month. If you use one brush per day
(instead of 2), then it will last for 2 months. After
4 or 5 months, you may be able to use it less often
than once a day to maintain the effect.
Does LATISSE™ really work?
The FDA study showed that eyelashes typically grew 25
percent longer, 106 percent thicker and 18 percent darker.
Can I use LATISSE™ if I wear contact lenses?
Contact lenses should be removed prior to use of LATISSE™
and may be reinserted 15 minutes following its application.
Is LATISSE™ right for you?
While most everyone may want the look of longer, fuller
and darker lashes, not everyone may be right for the
treatment. Dr Hoenig or Danya will evaluate your medical
history to determine if you are a good candidate. You
should not use LATISSE™ if you have an active eye condition,
including an eye infection, or have broken or irritated
skin on your eyelid.
How does LATISSE™ work?
The active ingredient in LATISSE™ is bimatoprost. Although
the precise mechanism of action is not known, research
suggests that the growth of eyelashes occurs by increasing
the percent of hairs in, and the duration of, the anagen
(or growth) phase. Lashes can grow longer, thicker and
darker because bimatoprost can also prolong this growth
phase.
How do I apply LATISSE™?
LATISSE™ is a once-a-day treatment you apply each evening
to the base of the upper eyelashes. Read the full application
instructions.
How soon will I see results?
LATISSE™ users may see results starting at 4 weeks with
full results after 16 weeks. The growth is gradual,
over time. Don't forget to take your own "before"
photos so you can compare the results.
Is LATISSE™ a replacement for mascara?
No, LATISSE™ does not work in place of mascara. However,
you may choose to wear less mascara or none at all after
growing your own beautiful lashes. Mascara is also a
nice complement to LATISSE™ to help make your new longer
eyelashes look even more attractive.
Is LATISSE™ different from nonprescription products
that indicate eyelash growth?
LATISSE™ solution is the first and only prescription
treatment approved by the FDA for inadequate or insufficient
eyelashes, growing them longer, fuller and darker.
What if I forget to apply one night? Or a few nights?
If you miss an application or a few, don't try to catch
up. Just apply the LATISSE™ treatment the next evening
and stay on schedule.
What happens if I stop using LATISSE™?
If you stop using LATISSE™, your eyelashes are expected
to return to their previous appearance over several
weeks to months.
What are the possible side effects of LATISSE™?
The most common side effects after using LATISSE™ solution
are an itching sensation in the eyes and/or eye redness.
This was reported in approximately 4% of patients. LATISSE™
solution may cause other less common side effects which
typically occur on the skin close to where LATISSE™
is applied, or in the eyes. These include skin darkening,
eye irritation, dryness of the eyes, and redness of
the eyelids.
What should I do if I get LATISSE™ in my eye?
LATISSE™ solution is an ophthalmic drug product. If
any gets into the eye, it is not expected to cause harm.
The eye should not be rinsed.
Who should NOT use LATISSE™?
Do not use LATISSE™ solution if you are allergic to
one of its ingredients, have glaucoma or an eye infection.
What are the ingredients in LATISSE™?
Active ingredient: bimatoprost
Inactive ingredients: benzalkonium chloride; sodium
chloride; sodium phosphate, dibasic; citric acid; and
purified water. Sodium hydroxide and/or hydrochloric
acid may be added to adjust pH. The pH during its shelf
life ranges from 6.8 — 7.8.
What is skin hyperpigmentation?
This is a common, usually harmless condition in which
patches of skin become abnormally darker than the surrounding
skin color. This occurs when an excess of melanin, the
brown pigment that produces normal skin color, forms
deposits in the skin. Hyperpigmentation is a possible
side effect of LATISSE™, but may be reversible after
you discontinue use.
What is elevated intraocular pressure (IOP)?
This is a condition where the pressure inside the eye
is higher than normal. LATISSE™ may decrease IOP. So
talk to your doctor if you are using IOP-lowering medications.
Concurrent administration of LATISSE™ and certain IOP-lowering
medications in ocular hypertensive patients should be
closely monitored for changes in intraocular pressure.
Is LATISSE™ safe?
LATISSE™ is an FDA-approved prescription treatment for
hypotrichosis used to grow eyelashes, making them longer,
thicker and darker. Hypotrichosis is another name for
having inadequate or not enough eyelashes. The FDA reviewed
clinical study results to verify the identity, potency,
purity, and stability of the ingredients, and demonstrated
that the product is safe and effective for its intended
use if used as prescribed.
Like every routine, applying LATISSE™ is all about consistency
and precision. Once you follow the basic guidelines,
the results will come gradually over time. To see the
full effect of your eyelash transformation, take a "before"
picture before you start the treatment, and keep taking
pictures every 4 weeks to chart your progress.
Directions for use:
Before applying LATISSE™, ensure your face is clean,
makeup and contact lenses are removed, and any other
facial care products have already been applied.
Remove an applicator from its tray. Then, holding
the sterile applicator horizontally, place one drop
of LATISSE™ solution on the area of the applicator
closest to the tip but not on the tip.
Immediately draw the applicator carefully along the
skin at the base of the upper eyelashes (where the
eyelashes meet the skin) just as you would apply liquid
eyeliner. This area should feel lightly moist without
runoff.
Blot any excess solution beyond the eyelid with a
tissue.
Dispose of the applicator after one use. Repeat for
opposite eyelid, using a new sterile applicator to
help minimize any potential for contamination from
one eyelid to another.
Follow these guidelines for best results:
Make it a routine: Try to incorporate LATISSE™
into your nightly routine — for example, after you've
washed your face and brushed your teeth.
Keep it handy: Store the LATISSE™ bottle near
your other skin care products or toothbrush, so you
won't forget to apply it each night.
Have patience: LATISSE™ takes time to work.
Only use it once a night, and don't overuse it, as this
may increase the chance of experiencing eye redness
or itchiness.
Start fresh: If your eye makeup remover leaves
an oily residue on your eyelids, wipe off any excess
oils with soap and water to ensure a clean surface before
you apply LATISSE™.
Follow the rules: Always use the sterile, disposable
FDA-approved applicator provided in the kit. Don't try
to apply LATISSE™ with a cotton swab. The LATISSE™ applicator
is specially designed to hold a drop and release a drop,
as well as ensure safety and maximize effectiveness.
Don't play catch up: If you miss a dose one
night, don't apply more just to catch up. Simply apply
LATISSE™ the next evening and stay on schedule.
Beware of germs: Don't let the tip of the bottle
or applicator contact your fingers or any other unintended
surface, in order to avoid contamination.
Chart your progress: When you start using LATISSE™
solution, be sure to mark your calendar and take pictures
throughout weeks (0, 4, 8, 12, 16), so you can have
your own "Before & After Gallery."
LATISSE™ works gradually and remarkably — starting
at 4 weeks with full results after 16 weeks. Once you
begin treatment, you could start to see results in as
little as 4 weeks, but you must continue applying the
topical treatment each night and follow the directions
for best results. Remember results are gradual over
time.
Your eyelashes will experience real measurable growth.
LATISSE™ works from the inside out. As the treatment
progresses, you'll begin to see changes in length, thickness
and darkness gradually. After week 16, you'll see the
full effect of LATISSE™ — and so will others.
In the clinical study, 78% saw significant increases
in all of the following three measurements at week 16:
length, fullness and darkness.
There are possible side effects. Throughout clinical
trials, some users did experience itchy eyes and eye
redness. However, some users found that these irritations
went away once they became accustomed to the product
or began applying it properly. As with any prescription
treatment, always consult with your doctor for information
and proper usage of LATISSE™ solution.
